Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev expects to return for training camp after recovering from core muscle surgery in March, following over eight months of injuries. Despite a challenging 2025-26 season where he played only 11 games due to multiple injuries, Tanev had a strong first year with the Leafs, contributing significantly to their defense. With the team needing a solid shutdown pairing, Tanev’s return alongside Jake McCabe could bolster their chances of making the postseason again. The Leafs’ defensive lineup remains largely unchanged, apart from Brandon Carlo‘s departure and Darren Raddysh‘s addition.
