The Nashville Predators traded forward Luke Evangelista to the New Jersey Devils for a conditional first-round pick from the Colorado Avalanche and their own second-round pick, both in 2028. Although Evangelista, who scored 56 points last season, is seen as a promising talent, he doesn’t fulfill the Montreal Canadiens’ current needs for physicality, a second-line center, or a right-shot defenseman. The Canadiens are focused on acquiring specific pieces for their roster rather than accumulating assets. They aim to use their draft capital for a more impactful deal down the line.
