8: Joel Blomqvist
Joel Blomqvist, ranked 8th in PensBurgh’s 2026 Top 25 Under 25, is a 24-year-old goaltender acquired in the 2020 NHL draft. After a lower-body injury sidelined him early in the 2025-26 season, he returned to AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, posting a 16-5-6 record. Despite being a promising prospect, his path to the NHL is uncertain due to the emergence of teammate Sergei Murashov. Blomqvist signed a two-year contract, positioning him as the third-string goalie for the Penguins, emphasizing the need for depth in goaltending.
