The Dallas Stars have selected HNTB as the lead design firm for a proposed new arena in Plano, Texas, aimed at creating a mixed-use district featuring retail and entertainment, marking a move from their current home at American Airlines Center. Meanwhile, the Ottawa Senators’ downtown arena project at LeBreton Flats is still in the planning phase one year after an agreement, with construction expected to take 30-36 months once it begins, prolonging their stay at Canadian Tire Centre for at least four more seasons. Senators president Cyril Leeder confirmed ongoing negotiations with stakeholders and emphasized that the team will not seek taxpayer funding for the project, while also addressing significant site preparation challenges due to contaminated soil. The Senators aim to reveal their arena design by early 2027, drawing inspiration from successful venues like UBS Arena and Little Caesars Arena.
