This morning, the Springfield Thunderbirds announced that Brandon Wildung has been appointed as their new goaltending coach, replacing Dan Stewart. Wildung, a Minnesota native and former Mercyhurst University player, previously served as associate head coach for the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede. He will mentor Georgi Romanov, a promising 26-year-old goalie with NHL experience. In other news, former NHL player Maxim Mamin had his contract terminated in the KHL, while Carolina’s Alexander Rykov and Nashville’s Juha Jatkola signed extensions in their respective leagues.
