Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin is set to meet with defenseman Quinn Hughes in Michigan to discuss a contract extension as Hughes enters the final year of his current $7.85-million deal. The Wild aims for a five to eight-year extension, but the NHL’s maximum will be seven years starting September 16. Hughes, who had 76 points last season and won the Norris Trophy in 2024, is open to re-signing with Minnesota. The team has over $45 million in cap space for 2027-28.
