The Ottawa Senators announced the signing of restricted free agent Xavier Bourgault to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season, ahead of his scheduled arbitration. The 23-year-old forward, a former first-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers, had a breakout season in the AHL, finishing with 25 goals and 57 points, and made his NHL debut in December. Bourgault’s strong performance has positioned him as a candidate for Belleville’s captaincy following Garrett Pilon’s departure to the KHL. As he heads into training camp, Bourgault aims to prove his readiness for the NHL level.
