Following the signing of Jack Thompson, the Vancouver Canucks have secured defenseman Cole Clayton on a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season. Clayton, 26, has faced challenges in his career, including injury setbacks and inconsistent performance, finishing last season with two goals and 11 points in 65 games across the AHL. Originally signed by the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters in 2021, his trajectory has included time with the Columbus Blue Jackets and San Jose Sharks. Despite his retention by the Canucks, it’s unlikely he will see significant playtime unless circumstances change dramatically.
