Norway’s hockey team will receive a significant boost as winger Michael Brandsegg-Nygard joins them for the remainder of the World Championship after his AHL team, the Grand Rapids Griffins, was eliminated from the playoffs. The 20-year-old, who had a brief NHL stint this season with the Red Wings, excelled in the AHL with 20 goals and 24 assists. Brandsegg-Nygard is one of only five NHL-affiliated players on Norway’s roster and is expected to be a key contributor as the team aims to qualify for the quarterfinals. Currently, Norway is fifth in their pool and needs to move up to fourth to advance.
