The Edmonton Oilers are interviewing Craig Berube for their head coach position after firing Kris Knoblauch following a first-round playoff exit. Berube was let go by the Toronto Maple Leafs after they failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2015-16, despite a successful tenure leading the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup in 2019. The Oilers, who finished second in the Pacific Division, initially targeted Bruce Cassidy but were denied permission to interview him. Edmonton’s captain, Connor McDavid, criticized the team’s overall performance this season.
