The Los Angeles Rams selected Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson in the first round of the draft, signaling their future plans despite having reigning MVP Matthew Stafford for at least another season. Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed that it remains Stafford’s team, while Simpson is expected to serve as the backup and learn from him. With potential veteran options like Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garoppolo now unlikely, Simpson could be groomed to take over in 2026. Stafford, who threw for 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns in 2025, is currently in a restructured contract with the Rams.
