The Philadelphia Phillies released pitcher Taijuan Walker after a disappointing start to the season, marked by a 9.13 ERA over five outings. The team will absorb the remaining $18 million on his contract, following a four-year, $72 million deal. President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski noted the team’s efforts to improve Walker’s performance, but it ultimately fell short. Walker, who was 24-25 with a 5.12 ERA in his time with the Phillies, will be replaced in the rotation by Zack Wheeler.
