The Cubs have acquired veteran starting pitcher Kevin Gausman from the Blue Jays in exchange for prospects Ty Southisene and Brett Bateman, ranked 13th and 19th in the Cubs organization, respectively. This rental deal, costing the Cubs just over $7 million of Gausman’s $23 million salary for the year, looks fair for a 35-year-old pending free agent. Gausman has a 4.38 ERA this season and is expected to make approximately 10 starts for the Cubs. His first game with the team may be against the Blue Jays, where he previously struggled against them.
