The Los Angeles Kings drafted defenseman Brandt Clarke eighth overall in 2021, and he has since developed into a top-four player. As he approaches restricted free agency this summer, GM Ken Holland is in discussions to secure a new deal before July 1st, which could range from $5MM for a two-year bridge deal to nearly $8MM for a seven-year contract. Clarke’s performance has improved, with a current season tally of six goals and 21 assists, increasing his contract value. With a trade freeze in effect, contract negotiations are likely to resume during the Olympic break.
