The Calgary Flames have traded defenceman Rasmus Andersson to the Vegas Golden Knights in a multi-piece deal, receiving defenceman Zach Whitecloud, blueliner Abram Wiebe, a first-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft, and a conditional second-round pick in 2028, while retaining 50% of Andersson’s salary. Andersson leaves Calgary ranked 15th in franchise history with 584 games played and 261 points. Whitecloud is known for his physical play and has contributed defensively for the Golden Knights, while Wiebe, a 22-year-old, adds depth to Calgary’s prospects. Whitecloud, part of the 2023 Stanley Cup-winning team, is in the fourth year of a six-year contract averaging $2.75 million annually.
