Former Vancouver Canucks defenceman Cole McWard is set to make his NHL debut with the New York Islanders against the Toronto Maple Leafs after spending the season with the Bridgeport Islanders in the AHL. The 24-year-old signed with the Canucks following a successful NCAA career and played six games with them, tallying one goal. McWard has had a productive season in the AHL, recording six goals and 26 points in 67 games. He was also part of the Abbotsford Canucks’ Calder Cup championship run, contributing a goal and an assist during the playoffs.
