Capitals star Oshie retires after 16 NHL seasons


T.J. Oshie, a veteran of 16 NHL seasons known for his memorable contributions to the U.S. Olympic team and the Washington Capitals, announced his retirement after a season plagued by a back injury. The 38-year-old made the announcement at Washington Harbour, marking the anniversary of the Capitals’ 2018 Stanley Cup celebration. Over his career, he played 1,116 games, scoring 336 goals and 428 assists, and gained fame as “T.J. Sochi” for his shootout performance against Russia in the 2014 Olympics.
