In a rare interview, Anaheim Ducks owner Henry Samueli emphasized the need to give GM Pat Verbeek more financial flexibility and discussed the hiring of coach Joel Quenneville, aiming to transform the team into a Stanley Cup contender after seven seasons without playoffs. Samueli, who has owned the team for over 20 years, expressed confidence that the rebuilding phase is complete and that they are now focused on becoming “perennial playoff contenders.” He assured that Verbeek has the budgetary freedom to pursue significant signings and acknowledged the scrutiny regarding Quenneville’s past, asserting a thorough evaluation was conducted before his hiring.
