Baker Mayfield, the Buccaneers’ quarterback, plans to complete the 2026 season under his current contract after negotiations for a new deal stalled before training camp. Entering the final year of a three-year, $100 million contract, Mayfield seeks a salary comparable to elite quarterbacks, starting at around $50 million annually. The Buccaneers believe their valuation of Mayfield exceeds that of other teams, with the option to franchise tag him for 2027. Mayfield, drafted first overall in 2018, had a productive 2025 season, appearing in all games and amassing 3,693 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.
