Joona Koppanen, a forward for the Pittsburgh Penguins, has signed with Lulea Hockey in Sweden’s SHL following the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ elimination in the AHL’s Calder Cup Playoffs. Koppanen spent three seasons with the Penguins’ organization, playing 44 AHL games in 2025-26 and recording eight goals and 25 points, while also appearing in 28 NHL games overall, totaling two points. His departure comes as WBS fell short of reaching the Calder Cup Final.
