The Colorado Avalanche will be without head coach Jared Bednar for their upcoming two-game road trip due to facial fractures and a corneal abrasion sustained from a puck during a game against the Vegas Golden Knights. Bednar, who does not require surgery and is expected to fully recover, has led the team since 2016, making him the longest-serving coach in the NHL besides Jon Cooper. During his tenure, he has achieved a record of 442-262-75 and won the Stanley Cup in 2022. Avalanche assistant coaches Nolan Pratt and Dave Hakstol will take over in his absence.
