The Boston Bruins have signed top prospect James Hagens to an AHL amateur tryout agreement, allowing him to join the Providence Bruins for immediate professional experience following his successful season at Boston College. General manager Don Sweeney emphasized Hagens’ importance to the team’s future development. Although Hagens cannot play in the NHL until he signs an entry-level contract, this step mirrors the path taken by Charlie McAvoy in 2017. Hagens was selected 7th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft after achieving a career-high 47 points in his sophomore season.
