Just over a month after signing a one-year, $20MM deal with the Braves, shortstop Ha-Seong Kim suffered a torn tendon in his finger, initially projected to require four to five months for recovery. However, general manager Alex Anthopoulos indicated that Kim might return as early as May, reducing the likelihood of a 60-day IL placement. In the interim, Atlanta signed utilityman Jorge Mateo and acquired Mauricio Dubón to help fill the shortstop position, after struggling offensively in 2025. Kim previously delivered strong performances with the Padres and played briefly for the Rays before joining Atlanta.
