Nick Smith Jr. is close to finalizing a deal with Spanish club Real Madrid after playing for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. The 6-foot-2 guard had his free agent rights renounced by the Lakers, who are undergoing significant roster changes. Smith began his career with the Charlotte Hornets as a first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft but was waived after two seasons. He started last season on a two-way contract with the Lakers before being promoted to a standard deal in April.
