Jesús Luzardo has been scratched from his scheduled start due to shoulder stiffness, as announced by interim manager Don Mattingly following the Phillies’ 6-5 loss to the Braves. Luzardo, who recently pitched a complete game against Atlanta, has struggled with his shoulder but the team does not currently see the issue as serious enough for an injured list placement. Instead, they will give him extra rest and use Tim Mayza as an opener for Saturday’s game. Bryce Harper emphasized the importance of Luzardo’s health for the team’s postseason push.
