Matt Suhey, a fullback for the legendary 1985 Chicago Bears and close friend of Hall of Famer Walter Payton, passed away over Labor Day weekend at the age of 68. Suhey spent his entire 10-year NFL career with the Bears, contributing to their Super Bowl XX victory and earning 2,946 rushing yards and 260 receptions. He was known for his unselfish blocking for Payton, who regarded him as a protector. Suhey’s death adds to the list of notable members from the famed ’85 Bears team who have recently passed away.
