Media reports suggesting that Bob Iger will have significant ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers have been overstated. While Iger may take on a prominent role in team operations, it will be Josh Kushner who becomes the sole controlling shareholder, required to invest at least $1.875 billion for a 15% stake. Iger, whose net worth is uncertain but likely under $1 billion, will be a minority owner and not the team’s decision-maker. Both parties need to clarify their roles to ensure a smooth transition, especially with NBA approval needed for the deal.
