TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona State hockey player Matthew Mayich, a St. Louis Blues draft pick, remains hospitalized nearly two weeks after collapsing during an outdoor workout on August 20. His attorney, Rob Carey, criticized the workout’s conditions as “onerous” and called for an independent investigation into the incident, which lasted over an hour with minimal breaks. ASU has stated it will conduct a thorough review but maintains that the workout was routine. Mayich, who transferred to Arizona State for the upcoming season, was previously drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL draft.
