Duje Caleta-Car has left Olympique Lyonnais to join Serie A side Sassuolo on a free transfer. The 29-year-old Croatian defender was not part of Lyon’s plans after returning from a loan at Real Sociedad and was one of the club’s highest earners. To alleviate salary costs, Lyon mutually agreed to terminate his contract, allowing him to sign with Sassuolo immediately. Caleta-Car made 57 appearances for Lyon during his tenure.
