The Falcons’ signing of Bijan Robinson prompted the Lions to quickly finalize a contract for Jahmyr Gibbs, while a similar outcome was expected for the Patriots and cornerback Christian Gonzalez after the Seahawks signed Devon Witherspoon. However, eight days later, no deal has been reached despite both players being represented by the same agency. Patriots executive Eliot Wolf acknowledged the ongoing negotiations, emphasizing their desire to retain Gonzalez, who has not practiced since August 10 due to an injury. Gonzalez aims to secure a contract that surpasses his current rookie deal, which runs through 2027, as he seeks to set a new standard for cornerback salaries.
