Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks have reached a contract buyout agreement, allowing him to become a free agent after clearing waivers. He is set to sign a two-year, $13 million deal with the Miami Heat. Thompson joined the Mavericks in the 2024 offseason via a sign-and-trade from the Golden State Warriors, but the team’s trade of Luka Doncic to the Lakers and injuries to Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis shifted their direction to rebuilding. He was under a $17.46 million contract for the 2026-27 season.
