Duke freshman Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje is projected as the top pick for the 2028 NBA Draft after an impressive debut at the Under-17 World Cup, where he averaged 19.6 points and earned MVP honors. Standing at 7-foot-2, he will spend two seasons at Duke, having developed his skills at FC Barcelona. Boumtje Boumtje is seen as a significant addition to USA Basketball’s future, given the lack of elite American big men. His adjustment to college basketball at 17 will be closely monitored this season.
