Maddy Westbeld, who began her WNBA career with the Chicago Sky in 2025, has signed a rest-of-season contract with the Phoenix Mercury after limited opportunities in her second season. Drafted 16th overall, she averaged 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in her rookie year but played only three games in 2026. With the Mercury struggling at 13-23 and out of playoff contention, Westbeld’s role may shift toward player development. The team is also focused on retaining Kelsey Plum in free agency.
