The Yankees, after a lackluster trade deadline, called up prospect George Lombard Jr. and recently lost two of three games against the Cardinals, despite Lombard hitting a home run in their only victory. They will face the Braves, who lead the NL East, in a challenging three-game series. The pitching matchups include Max Fried against Tyler Mahle on Friday, Gerrit Cole versus Chris Sale on Saturday, and Cam Schlittler opposing Grant Holmes on Sunday. Sale’s strong performance and the Braves’ overall success make this a tough test for the struggling Yankees.
