Illinois forward David Mirkovic, a standout true freshman last season, is out indefinitely after foot surgery, as announced on Aug. 4. The injury occurred during practice on July 31, but he is expected to fully recover. Last season, Mirkovic averaged 13.3 points and 8 rebounds per game, and was poised for a larger role following Keaton Wagler’s departure. Illinois aims to adjust its lineup without him, potentially employing a double-big strategy.
