The Afghanistan Cricket Board has named Rahmat Shah as the new Test and ODI captain after Hashmatullah Shahidi stepped down. Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been appointed as vice-captain, with Ibrahim Zadran leading the T20I side. Rahmat, Afghanistan’s highest run-scorer, will lead the team in Tests and ODIs, starting with a series against Ireland in August 2026.
