According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Lions tight end Sam LaPorta has been fully cleared from back surgery and is expected to participate fully in training camp. LaPorta, who underwent surgery for a herniated disc in November and missed the remainder of the season, is entering the final year of his four-year rookie contract after a strong performance in 2025, recording 40 receptions for 489 yards and three touchdowns. The 25-year-old was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2022 before being drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He is currently in contract negotiations as he approaches the end of his rookie deal.
