NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed interest in hosting a regular-season game in Tokyo, Japan, during his appearance at Fanatics Fest in New York. While acknowledging the NFL’s history of international games, he emphasized the desire to bring a regular-season matchup to Japan, having previously held only a preseason game there. This year, the NFL will feature nine international regular-season games, starting with the opener in Melbourne, Australia, on September 10. Goodell envisions expanding the NFL’s international presence, potentially hosting up to 16 games abroad each season.
