On June 24, 2026, Meleek Thomas was drafted 34th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Draft, generating mixed reactions from Cleveland Cavaliers fans who expected a wing player. The Cavs aimed to fill a gap left by Ty Jerome’s departure, as they lacked a self-creating scorer off the bench. Thomas, an efficient shooter from Arkansas, demonstrated playmaking potential and the ability to carry an offense without his teammate Darius Acuff Jr. While unlikely to be a key contributor immediately, he has the potential to develop into a vital shot-creating guard for the Cavaliers.
