Athletics top prospect Ryan Lasko was hospitalized following a serious collision with teammate Devin Taylor while playing center field for Double-A Midland. Lasko was down for approximately 10 minutes before being carted off and taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, where he underwent spinal surgery for a C6-C7 vertebra fracture and currently lacks feeling in his lower body. Athletics manager Mark Kotsay noted there is hope for Lasko to regain feeling, and the team is providing support during this difficult time. Lasko, a second-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, had impressed coaches with his defensive skills during spring training.
