The Mets provided an encouraging update on right-hander Clay Holmes, who is set to throw a bullpen session this week, according to interim manager Andy Green. Holmes is recovering from a fractured fibula sustained in May and, while still weeks away from returning, his progress could strengthen a struggling starting rotation. Additionally, his potential return may make him a valuable trade asset ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline, as he posted a 2.39 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in nine starts this season.
