Bangladesh has introduced the Gambling Prevention Bill, 2026 to combat corruption in sports, making match-fixing and spot-fixing criminal offenses punishable by up to seven years in prison and a Tk 1 crore fine. The bill, currently under review, aims to modernize gambling laws, establish cyber tribunals for cases, target online betting networks, and create a National Digital Blacklist. However, concerns have been raised regarding the authority of sports federations in filing criminal complaints against offenders.
