The Phillies re-signed reliever Jackson Rutledge to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he will be placed on the injured list. After being designated for assignment to make room for Derek Hill, Rutledge was released but quickly returned on a non-roster deal. He was previously claimed off waivers from the Nationals, where he had a challenging season, posting a 5.77 ERA in 73 1/3 innings. Rutledge, a first-round pick in 2019, has struggled at both the MLB and Triple-A levels, including a 5.60 ERA over four seasons in the minors.
