Veteran catcher Sandy Leon has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A by the Braves after being designated for assignment following the acquisition of Joey Bart. Over his 14-year MLB career, Leon has played for seven teams and struggled offensively, hitting .091 in 21 games this season, but contributed defensively with solid framing and 1 Defensive Run Saved. With Drake Baldwin returning and Bart now on the roster, Leon may see limited big-league opportunities unless injuries arise. Sean Murphy, currently on the 60-day IL, may also complicate Leon’s chances moving forward.
