The Padres have outrighted outfielder Bryce Johnson to Triple-A El Paso after he cleared waivers. Johnson, who struggled offensively this season with a .178 batting average and 18 strikeouts in 49 plate appearances, had been designated for assignment on Friday. With Samad Taylor performing well and Nick Solak recently called up, the Padres’ depth at the upper minors is limited, with Mason McCoy as the only hitter on the 40-man roster not in the majors.
