The Milwaukee Brewers have signed right-hander Lyon Richardson to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Nashville after he elected free agency following his outright from the Reds. A second-round pick in 2018, Richardson has struggled in the majors with a 6.67 ERA over 56 2/3 innings, but has shown promise in the minors with a 4.48 ERA in 62 1/3 Triple-A innings. With a fastball averaging 96 mph and various pitches, he has potential for development. As he is out of options but has less than a year of service time, he could be a cost-effective addition if he returns to the majors.
