San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado expressed his frustration with the overwhelming presence of statistics in baseball, stating, “I wish we could get the analytics out the way.” He criticized the complexity and abundance of advanced metrics, questioning their relevance in a team sport. Machado’s comments come during a challenging season where he is struggling offensively, with a batting average of .175 over 60 games, as the Padres enter a six-game losing streak.
