Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Ildemaro Vargas and Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy were injured in a violent collision at first base during Thursday’s game. Muncy hit a ball up the line, and as Vargas charged towards the bag, they collided, both players falling to the ground. After several minutes of assistance on the field, Muncy managed to get up first and walked to the dugout, while Vargas required help to leave. Vargas was replaced by Pavin Smith, and Muncy was substituted by pinch runner Santiago Espinal.
