Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that Mexico has “no issue” hosting Iran’s World Cup team, which will relocate its training base to Tijuana from the U.S. due to concerns over the team’s stay in American territory. The decision comes after FIFA indicated that the U.S. preferred the Iranian squad not to stay overnight in the country. Iran’s team will still play its matches in the U.S. during the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Sheinbaum stated her government is coordinating with FIFA on the details ahead of the competition.
