According to Aaron Wilson, Texans LB E.J. Speed has suffered a partially torn quadriceps and tendon during training and will require surgery next week, with an expected return "at some point this season." This injury comes after Speed signed a two-year, $13 million contract in March, likely sidelining him for several games. A candidate for injured reserve, Speed played 16 games and started nine last season, recording 62 tackles. He was previously drafted by the Colts in 2019 and re-signed with them before joining Houston.
